Important Poker Terms 4

Welcome back! I am about to define more terms that will matter as you strive to succeed at poker in casinos for USA players. I have to say that I am really liking this alphabetical theme a lot. Another good thing is that it prevents me from pulling my hair out as I try to decide which terms to choose since there are so many.

I chose ICM for the letter “I”, which is an acronym for Independent Chip Model. If your main game is SnGs on Tiger Gaming, it is mandatory that you know ICM. It basically gives tournament chips a cash value so that you can make the right decision when someone is all-in.

The letter J does not have a lot of variety when it comes to poker terms, so we will just go over “jam”. If you find a good poker video and the instructor says that a jam is optimal, it is equivalent to saying that going all-in is optimal. You can use it in place of “shove” or “push”.

I picked “kill” for the letter K. If you decide to play poker at your B&M instead of the usual Craps online, there is often a kill game going on. When someone wins two pots in a row, they are required to pay an extra blind the next hand. A half kill requires just 1.5 times the big blind while a full kill is 2 times the big blind. People that do not like the tough games on US poker sites might enjoy kill tables because they have the ability to slow aggressive players down a bit.

When someone makes a move “light”, they are doing it with a hand that is relatively weak. Say you are on your Bwin Poker download and you receive 92 in the small blind. A player that opens frequently in late position raises on the button, and you make a 3-bet since you assume he is usually raising a wide range here. He is probably raising light in his position, and you are reraising light from the blinds. These spots are common on money poker sites.
